Optional Activities and Guided Tours
During the Regional Meeting, you can choose to participate in several optional activities to learn more about Ljubljana and Slovenia. Details about the available activities are provided below.
Please note, the costs of the optional program are not included in the meeting fee.
Tuesday, October 12
18:15 – 20:00
Guided tour of Ljubljana
Walk from the hotel through the Tivoli city park to the city centre (cca 30 minutes). The guide, a GLOBE (CŠOD) teacher, will present the main highlights of Ljubljana in English in the city centre as well as during the walk there. After the tour, the participants will be free to explore the city centre and have dinner at a place of their choice. Returning to the hotel should be organized individually.

Thursday, October 14
18:00 – 20:00

Guided tour of Arboretum Volčji Potok
After the school visit, those interested in the afternoon trip will be taken by bus (cca 10. minutes) to Arboretum Volčji Potok, the largest national botanical garden designated as a place of cultural and natural heritage of national importance. The Arboretum is home to more than 3.500 taxa of trees and shrubs. The guided tour will be conducted in English by one of GLOBE (CŠOD) teachers. Return to the hotel by 18.00.
Price: 10 EUR per person.

Saturday, October 16

Visit to Postojna Cave and Cerknica Lake
Join a Saturday excursion to explore the stunning Postojna Cave, one of the largest karst caves in the world. You’ll journey through its vast chambers by train, discovering unique formations. You will also visit a Vivarium with over 150 species of cave-dwelling animals, including the unique Olm (Proteus anguinus), the largest among cave-dwelling animals and the only vertebrate in Europe strictly bound to cave habitats, also called “human fish” or “baby dragon”.
During the trip, you’ll also make a stop at Cerknica Lake, one of the largest intermittent lakes in Europe.

9:30-10:30 Stop by Lake Cerknica, short walk by the lake and stop at the visitors’ centre
12:00 – 15:30 Postojna Cave tour (90 min.), visit of Vivarium (30-60 min.), lunch
16:30 Return to the hotel
Price: 35.50 EUR per person includes the tour, Cave and Vivarium visit. Price of transportation will be clarified closer to the date.
Lunch will be arranged individually, with several options available near the Postojna Cave.
